I was 19, in my first year of duty in the United States Navy, and away from home and on my own for the first time. In the middle of the Vietnam war, I was lucky to have shore duty at a small Navy base in Georgia. I was an RD3 (Radarman 3rd class) assigned a staff position at Glynco Naval Air Technical Training Center (NATTC). For all of 1970, I called Glynco home.
